I’ll admit it, “Damn, I can be lazy!”, and not a sorry to be seen. All summer I looked forward to good weather so I could get some work done and here for a week it’s been in the mid 80’s and I couldn’t get off the couch. Luckily there are more industrious members who picked up the slack.
As always a big thanks to Joe Holiday and his ground work preparing for the agricultural phase of East Jesus. Joe brought out some 55 gallon drums and built a few watering stations as well as a bat box to house the future exterminators. We’ve removed the rolling carriage that supported the diesel generator and with a little work will make it street legal and safe to carry a 500 gal. bladder so we can start procuring water for growing plants.
Marty took a couple days of spring cleaning to whip the kitchen into shape and Bob took on the project of hanging a wider front gate while starting this season’s woodpile. New resident Drew has been fitting into the mix by organizing the art tent and several other physical tasks like building a new section of mattress fence and clearing out the dead wood in our shade trees.
Thanks go out to our guests from the Thanksgiving weekend for the work they did in rebuilding the Gypsy Camp. Hallah and her cohorts definitely livened up the weekend and we look forward to their next visit. The food was delicious, the liquor flowed, the sounds of gunfire rang thru the afternoon and we even found a place for the giant, kick-ass rubber ducky they saved from the dump.
Not to forget our other guests; Bob and Leslie, who are always funny and take away my fear of growing old, Tito and Bee for filling in as newbies and introducing us to mead, Aaron for dusting off the music system and special thanks for Omo for never shutting up.
As for the other departments; Ken has been busy following and filming two different documentary crews that spent time recording the East Jesus story. Then there was that one day that a band showed up at sunset with their own mattress to burn in the Car-B-Q. There was another photographer in the garden who remarked that this was a surprising thing to stumble upon. Guess for some people it might be.
So what do we have planned for the future? Well if I can get my ass of the couch, or even if I don’t we’ll be hosting a soiree on the 22nd of December. “The End of the World party at The End of the World after The End of the World.” Since we can’t find any Mayans to confirm or deny we figure we will just play it safe and invite all our friends to help us restart society while removing any stray zombies. So if the world doesn’t end on the 21st bring your liquor and guns and enjoy an office Christmas party for once. We even have some Twinkies that expire on the 21st so we can see what happens. Then we’ll move into our New Year’s party and on to the Birthday Party on January 6th. So in all likelihood we’ll just be partying for 3 weeks if you want to stop by.
