What?  It’s Wednesday, already?  But the weekend just ended, how am I supposed to get ready for another one in just two days?  I’m sore and tired and just a bit lazy and really prefer to just lounge in the hammock and watch the hummingbirds.      The weekend started late for us as our guests didn’t arrive until Sunday.  First to land were the Marines, Zac and his blushing bride Danielle.  Did I say blushing?  More like bruising, this 90lb waif is a former U.S.M.C. armorer who used to specialize in the repair and upkeep of the various .50 cal machine guns on Camp Pendleton.  So not only is she cute and competent but she doesn’t back down and we like that mix in women at East Jesus.  We voted her head of the ‘Dealing with Police & other Undesirables’ dept. figuring that after she disarmed and disabled anyone they would be happy to have a couple big guys show up to save them.  Zac is being redeployed to a sandy country next week and our thoughts and prayers go with him for a safe return.  He said he sleeps better out here where he can hear the gunnery practice in the distance and enjoys using the clothing optional gun range.  We appreciate the hard work he put into building the upper decking between the containers and the paint job that he gave to the bazooka man target.  We also like a guy who is comfortable with being called Mr. Fabulous.      Sunday night also saw the arrival of our friends from TechnoMania Circus.  Bruce, Valerie and Nick left the Victory Theater in San Diego empty for a few days as they visited, worked and entertained our crew in the desert.  Bruce is a bottomless pit of energy and saw to the erection of a new message center for the library, helped with the roof, decorated the outside of the Bastard Suite, helped start the outside stage, built a puppet theater and performed magic, music and mayhem after each dinner.  We really can’t have him out here too often as it makes us all feel old and lazy.  Nick and Valerie were also indespensible but Bruce claimed all their praise saying “It’s in the contract.”  Like most gifted artists who come to E.J. he’s already looking at the potential growth and how The Circus can be a part of it as well as planing for the Art Slam coming up at the end of March.  We’re looking forward to seeing how he gets the 27 foot high crow’s nest out here from San Diego.      This weekend is the Open Mic Night After the Apocalypse at the Range.  11 bands from the Los Angeles will descend on the desert for a music festival to be captured on camera for a feature film.  This should prove to be quite an experience and already we have friends and friends of friends who want to stay with us.  So I guess I better get up and go clean something.
